Sunday Nov 04, 2012
Sunday Nov 04, 2012
Rev. David Carl Olson November 4, 2012 Our political culture is one of polarization, separation, harsh criticism of one’s opposition and denigration of the people on the “other side.” But beyond a land of blue states and red states, our nation aspires to being “one nation indivisible.” Unitarian Universalist faith speaks to this enduring hope. Spiritual practices from making meaning out
of the latest movies, to listening to the music that speaks to our hearts, to
expressing compassion to other living beings, to being intentional about the
ways we walk the earth . . . these and other practices call us to a profound
wisdom that may animate our lives, if only we can find a way to listen.

Unitarians have, for centuries, supported public education as a foundation for a democratic society. Education is a prime guarantor of each person's fullest developement.

Rev David Carl Olson September 16, 2012
The Jewish New Year begins with a declaration of something brand new amid the ancient patterns of nature and community life. Before the new year may be fully embraced, a day of fasting and atonement asks for a consideration of the effects of personal and communal living. We begin again with prayer and music adapted for a Unitarian Universalist sensibility.
